This parking structure is currently under construction adjacent to a new building addition on the east side of the Aspen Valley Hospital in Aspen, Colorado. It is a two way single helix consisting of 6 parking ramps accommodating 220 parking spaces. Due to the sloping grades on the north and east sides of the site, the structure will have an entrance at the top and at the bottom of the helix.

Service as the Engineer of Record, Structural Consultants, Inc. provided full design and construction document preparation services for the project and will provide construction administration services as well. At the request of the general contractor, Structural Consultants, Inc. created a three dimensional Building Information Model of the parking structure for use in coordination.

The Aspen Valley Hospital parking garage was original designed as a precast concrete structure. About midway through the construction document phase, the general contractor capitalized on an opportunity to save cost and provide the owner with a maintenance friendly structure by directing that the structure be converted to a cast in place post tensioned one way slab and beam system. Structural Consultants, Inc. was able to make the conversion without negatively impacting the design or construction schedule.
