The Medical Center of Aurora South Medical Office Building was constructed in 2005-2006 on the Aurora South Campus in Aurora, Colorado to provide additional office space for specialty medical outpatient care.  The 3-story facility created an additional 69,000 square feet of floor space to accommodate this need.  Structural Consultants, Inc. provided full structural design services for the core and shell of the building and tenant improvements of the individual suites.  The floor systems of the building were enhanced during the construction phase of the building to support specialized medical equipment as the needs for individual suites were determined.

A composite steel frame and steel braced frame system structural system was chosen for the building to maximize economy and to provide flexibility for individual suite equipment and finishes.  The base structure for the window systems was designed for removal to accommodate the installation of larger specialized medical equipment.  The cold formed steel stud framing at the exterior walls was provided with the core and shell package and specially designed to support the exterior brick veneer above the large exterior openings.
