The AC-24 Laboratory Building is a landmark facility on the AMGEN Campus located in Longmont, Colorado. AMGEN is a global leader in biotechnology manufacturing. This facility was designed to enhance their capabilities in the analysis and development of bio-pharmaceutical products. Structural Consultants, Inc. served as the structural engineer of record for the AC-24 Laboratory project providing design, documentation, and construction administration services through the completion of the project.

The main structural systems included composite steel floor system structures specifically designed to meet the owner’s parameters for sensitive research equipment and vibration requirements. Extensive and complex structural coordination was completed with the process piping and ventilation system designs within the facility.

The AC-24 Laboratory project was constructed using a fast track approach with multiple design drawing submittals. Separate construction documents were issued for the foundation, structural steel, architectural, and mechanical systems to allow the building construction to progress prior to the completion of the final building design.
