Borick Hall is located on the Western State College Campus in Gunnison, Colorado. The Business, Accounting, and Economics departments are located in the facility along with a computer laboratory and administration space. Borick Hall is one of the newer facilities on the campus. The 2 story vaulted rotunda was designed as a community space. Structural Consultants, Inc. served as the Structural Engineer of Record for this project and provided the structural design and construction administration services.

A composite steel framed structural system was chosen for this project. The sloped roof was framed with cold formed steel engineered trusses. The exterior wall system was framed with cold formed steel studs and was coordinated with the architectural exterior masonry veneer. The structural steel and concrete used in the structural systems were supplied with the appropriate percentage of recycled material to aid in the project team’s desire to achieve a LEED Silver Certification.

A 3-D Building Information Model (BIM) was used for design and multi-discipline design coordination for the Borick Hall project.
